Thumbnails for The fall of The House of Usher
Some more thumbnails for the exterior of the House of Usher. Building are my weakness when it comes to drawing so for a while I gave up drawing them. The first few thumbnails aren't really that inspired but I made number two into more of a painting in one of Phil's photoshop lessons which was moderately successful. After that I concetrated more on the landscape just getting the shape and placement of objects right before I tackle the house design, my favourites so far are numbers 7, 8 and 11.

Maya Work
Developmental stage for maya the 3D building. laying out the UV's on the curve of the roof was an abseloute nightmare but I got there eventually. Maya is deffinately becoming easier even if what we doing is becoming increasingly harder.
Thumbnails
Some "quick" Photoshop Thumbnails which actually took me a long time indeed, probably too long. just playing about with perspective, I got a few ideas down for positioning and environment but then I decided to spend some time designing the house as I had no idea as to quite how it would look. Buildings are my Achillies heel when it comes to drawing and I'm entirely in debt to the individual who created the straight edge tool on Photoshop.

| Colour Palette Exterior |
Here I have assembled some Influence Maps for The Fall of the House of Usher. The Interior and Exterior maps contain some quite Gothic shapes although quite a lot of Gothic architechture is incredibly over the top and I'm trying to stray away from a classic Disney-esque castle type structure with lots of turrets. I think the house needs to be more of a manor house but still retain some of the freedom and the fantasy that it requires.
The Colour Pallette maps are just a to show what type of atmosphere I'll be trying to portray in my Paintings. the two scenes I have chosen from this book are in the evening so there are lots of saturated oranges and pinks in the sky and from the lamps but I also want to throw in those dark shadows not too dark but just enough to portray evening believably.
